Who's To Blame?

With a breath of the heavens
Twilight bleeds across the sky
The sky, though wounded, spins on
The stars shine on high
The street-lights of the sky
No more in the shadow of our nearest one

The rain has ceased
But the skies aren't clear
It takes time for everything to heal
The day's like night
And it seems so long
It makes it harder for us to feel

There is no gain without pain
And man celebrates his progress
With spiritual regression
When bigotry and vengeance live on,
We must bear our consequential suffering
Then why is it God we question?

Love's Slave

He was the greatest friend to have
Someone who'd never let you down
But now you wonder why he acts so strange
And he's had a complete turn-around

It was two years since they first went out
And now on the beach where the waves rolled in
She said she'd found someone new
She turned her back on him

He was always there for her
Never let her down
He gave her all he could
And that's what tears him now

All the questions he asked that night
She just would not answer
And as realisation hit him
He knew he had to look to the future

But losing love isn't that easy
As he found out so well
Every thought of her brought a tear
And turned his life into a living hell

Tell me where was reason in what she did?
No thought of how much he gave
In fact what he had wasn't love
He was just love's slave

And through the months the agony piled on
As he tried to see what he did wrong
While she's out with new love that she thinks is better
But she's got it wrong, 'cause she's fallen for a player

Time doesn't heal
It's just that memories fade
And the once awesome couple
Drifts further away

But when she's been played
And she realises what she's done
She'll come back crying
She'll come back like scum

But now he's grown
And the kind boy has turned sore
And no matter how much she begs
He'll continue to ignore

Her tears don't melt his heart of stone
And his mind drifts away to the recent past
When he cried each night for the love he lost
When he thought each night would be his last

And now as he sits on the beach again
This time alone, sore and scarred
His heart is as cold as the midnight breeze
His heart is ever so hard

For now he looks at love as a curse
A curse that made him new
Be careful when choosing your love
For someday this boy could be you.
